Flandern Rundfahrt. Am Ende die Big Boys.

Heute morgen ging es in Antwerpen wieder los. Die Bands spielen das Lied vom Tot. Auch das gehört zur Flandern Rundfahrt. 250 Kilometer geht es nach dem Start an der Schelde durch Flandern. Die ersten 100 Kilometer sind flach und für die Karnickel vorbehalten. Erst hinter Oudenaarde geht es zur Sache. Dort gibt es viel zahlreiche Schleifen, das die Jungs dejavu Erlebnisse bekommen. Entscheidend sind aber die zahlreichen steilen Hellinge. Die zermürben die Jungs.

Die meisten jedenfalls. So wundert es nicht das irgendwann Mal die Ausreißer geschlachtet werden und das Peloton nicht mehr Peloton genannt werden kann.

50 Kilometer vor dem Ziel macht Tadej Pogacar vom Team UAE ernst. Die Ausreißer, darunter Max Kanter vom Team Bora hansgrohe hatten bis zu 5 Minuten  Vorsprung. Das war dann schnell iin diesem Anstieg vorbei. Nur wenige konnten folgen. 

Mit dabei war der fliegende Holländer. Der und Pogarcar macht dann endgültig ernst und ließen die verblieben 3 Kumpels stehen. Mathieu Van der Poel vom Team Alpecin Fenix und Pogacar machen es unter sich aus. 3 km vor dem Ende kommt kein Berg mehr. Die 28 Sekunden sollten reichen.

Tun Sie aber nicht ganz. Einer muss noch bluten. Denn die beiden Boys Boys verzocken sich. Einer jedenfalls. Pogarcar und Van der Poel zockeln auf den letzten Metern. Keiner will den Sprint antreten. Dann müssen sie. Denn die drei Verfolger rauschen im Schnellzugtempo heran. Gerade als sie vorbeiziehen wollen startet Van der Poel die engine. Die anderen kommen heran, aber nicht mehr vorbei. Das hätte auch schiefgehen können. Für Pogarcar geht es das. Er verschenkt den sicheren zweiten Platz und wird nur Vierter. Das gibt reichlich Frust.
